It is shown that is advisable to consider an approach that complements the current methods of circuit testing and to present more general methods that refer to the most basic principles in physics, such as the principle of conservation of energy, the principles of thermodynamics, etc., and at the same time computational capabilities of modern computers. Power functional in the transient state of electric circuits may focuses the main attention of researchers and participants of doctoral studies.
