Moral Uncertainty in Medicine
摘要
The first form of uncertainty in medicine was what I have called epistemic or noetic. This is focused on knowledge and technical skill. Can the doctor do what she knows, in a broad sense of know, should be the right result from her treatment of the patient? Dr. Gupta knows what the right result should be in his treatment of Ms. Darlington. He is profoundly uncertain about whether he can achieve this result. If he cannot, Claire will die sooner.
