Trapped Ion Quantum Computing
摘要
Physical implementation of qubits is a critical topic for quantum computing. One of the methods for physically implementing quantum computing is trapped ion quantum computing. Trapped ion quantum computing is widely used, including by companies such as IonQ. In fact, trapped ion is one of the three most common approaches to physical implementation of qubits. Ions are trapped in a vacuum using either a Paul trap or a Penning trap, using electromagnetic fields to hold the ion in place. Lasers are frequently used to apply gates to the trapped ion qubits.
