This article explores state of Ukraine’s energy security in view of the changing geopolitical landscape and new strategic risks as a result of Russia’s military actions against Ukraine; green certification of Ukraine’s civil and industrial infrastructure based on the principle of life cycle assessment in the context of European integration in times of war; the integration of international green certification standards, including LEED, BREEAM, and the WELL Building Standard, into the post-war reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. It highlights the comprehensive assessment criteria of LEED and BREEAM, emphasizing energy efficiency, water management, materials usage, and innovation. A comparison of these standards is also made. Additionally, it discusses the unique focus of the WELL Building Standard on occupant health and well-being. The article underscores the potential of these standards to guide the selection of environmentally friendly construction materials, efficient energy systems, and sustainable waste management practices. Furthermore, it discusses the benefits of incorporating these standards, such as enhancing building competitiveness, improving indoor environmental quality, and promoting human health and productivity. This integration represents a significant step in Ukraine’s alignment with European standards and the adoption of new ecological practices, fostering its integration into the European Union and signaling its commitment to sustainable development.
