A MATLAB / Simulink Implementation of Closed Loop Speed Control of PMBLDC and PMSM Motors Using Fuzzy Logic Controller for EV Applications

摘要

The current trends of the electrical vehicles (EV) for the transportation applications is the wide area to be discovered for the performance enhancement in terms of speed, torque and various transient response indices. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of speed control techniques for two prominent electric motor types: PMBLDC (Brushless DC) motors and PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous) motors used in vehicular applications. The study explores a wide spectrum of control strategies that enable precise speed regulation in various industrial and automotive applications. The paper investigates FLC based advanced control methods for these motor types. The paper subsequently delves into the core principles of speed control, encompassing approaches such as conventional control methods and fuzzy logic control methods. Practical insights into the implementation of these techniques are discussed, highlighting the impact on dynamic response, and overall performance. The comparative analysis reveals the strengths and limitations of each motor type and associated control strategies, considering factors like response time and adaptability to real-world scenarios. The MATLAB results discussed in the paper gives the overall performance characteristics of PMBLDC and PMSM motor for vehicular application.
