The development and sustainability of urban transportation systems have emerged as critical components of modern city planning. This study investigates key factors contributing to the sustainability of metro projects in Pune, focusing on connectivity, infrastructure, last-mile reach, perception of reduced travel time, and awareness of carbon emission reduction. The research is driven by the aim to enhance the understanding of how these factors influence the viability and long-term success of metro projects in the city. The potential correlation between providing metro rail facilities and infrastructure at equivalent fare rates adds to the project's sustainability. The study examines how fare equity influences the system's financial viability and long-term success. The significance of last-mile connectivity as a critical factor for ensuring the sustainability of metro rail operations. The research delves into the role of last-mile solutions in enhancing the overall efficiency and accessibility of the metro system.
