Circular Economy aims to decouple economic growth from resource consumption, offering businesses new ways to thrive in a sustainable way. This is achieved through resource efficiency and value-retaining practices. To accelerate the adoption of these practices, this chapter provides an overview of value retention options relevant to industrial companies. A detailed literature review was carried out to determine the key drivers and enablers of these value retention options, with particular emphasis on the European industry. This resulted in the identification of 16 driving and 12 enabling factors grouped into a framework, accompanied by an overview of the challenges companies face when transitioning to circular practises.
