R7 Recycle
摘要
Recycling is the oldest and most widely used retention option in the context of Circular Economy. Recycling of raw materials was already a decisive economic factor in ancient times. Using examples from the literature, this chapter provides a profound introduction to what recycling means and how it can be applied. Using asphalt recycling as use case, it describes which enablers and drivers have an influence on the success of this business model. Overall, institutional drivers such as the legal framework and punitive measures provide strong incentives for recycling asphalt pavements. In addition, a dedicated culture in a firm towards reducing the environmental impact enables the change towards a green economy. In the specific case, however, this led to the paradox situation that sustainability goals for CO2 reduction are adverse to the expansion of the Circular Economy through recycling.
