Without any doubt, the current prevailing Linear Economy principle of take-make-dispose is inherently unsustainable due to its adverse effects on the environment and the depletion of natural resources. In this context, the concept of Circular Economy has gained increasing attention in recent years as a way to address the resulting problems. In this introduction, we explore our perspective on why Circular Economy has evolved into a strategic focal point for corporate management. We introduce the methodologies and approaches that were applied throughout the book and how we derived practical recommendations for companies on their journey towards a Circular Economy.
