Learning and Teaching Global Leadership

This chapter takes the learning from the previous two chapters and begins to outline how our developing knowledge and understanding of global leadership can be developed within a curricular framework. Specific pedagogical approaches are advocated, including case studies and scenario-based learning. By these means students can begin to engage with the complexity of the subject matter and can also begin to develop skills of analysis, of strategising and of bringing theory to practice. Specific case studies are presented as examples of the overall approach, including the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962; the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa; and the presence of multinational soft drinks companies in India. By these means the chapter outlines what might be taught in a global leadership curriculum and how it might be taught, engaging with broader considerations, including gender and ethical leadership, and with leadership theories, including Adaptive Leadership.
