摘要

This chapter examines simultaneous interpreting (SI) from Chinese. It addresses the specific challenges that the inherent characteristics of the Chinese language can present, analyzing the main management strategies useful for successfully conducting SI from Chinese. SI is a complex form of interpreting that requires exceptional linguistic competence and the ability to manage the flow of speech in real time. In the context of Chinese interpreting, unique challenges arise due to structural and linguistic differences between the two languages dealt with in this chapter. This chapter explores these challenges and provides practical strategies for overcoming them successfully. Through the analysis of the specific characteristics of SI in the Chinese-English language combination and the provision of practical strategies and tips for addressing difficulties, this chapter aims to introduce interpreters to SI, enabling them to develop the necessary skills to successfully manage complex Chinese speeches in real time.
