Media Interpreting

This chapter emphasizes that interpreting in the media context is known by various names, each of which highlights a specific characteristic while omitting others. There are several definitions in use, such as Television Interpreting and Broadcast Interpreting, which reflect the importance of television and radio as clients for this type of interpreting. However, the broader and more widely used term in academia is Media Interpreting, which encompasses all forms in which media interpreting can be practiced. This chapter provides important insights for the training of professional interpreters in the media field.
