Two Observations on Jewish Political Choices, 1980–2020

This chapter shortly deals with two aspects of the political orientations of US Jews. It compares electoral data on the Democrat-Republican divide and partition with parallel data elaborated from Israeli elections. The chapter summarily reviews the main fluctuations in the US Jewish vote, comparing it to contemporary elections trends in Israel. It seeks above all a shared frame of reference in spite of the deep differences between the two societies and political systems. It also tries to innovatively catch some of the main gist of the different attitudinal perceptions of Jewish voters for each of the two major competitors in the 2020 US presidential elections. Structural analysis of an admittedly small and non-representative sample suggests interesting possible differences in the perceptions of the main political issues by supporters of the two main US political parties.
