Poststroke Epilepsy
摘要
Seizures are a common sequela of stroke and may occur either in the acute setting within the first 7 days of stroke or remotely. Individuals with acute symptomatic seizures may not require long-term treatment with antiseizure medications. In contrast, those with delayed onset seizures meet the criteria for epilepsy diagnosis, and therefore, long-term treatment will be needed. There are more than 30 currently available antiseizure medications, and patient characteristics, comorbidities, drug-drug interactions, and cost/accessibility of medication should guide the initial choice of medication.
