The Interdisciplinary Stroke Team

Caring for stroke patients is complex in both inpatient and outpatient settings and is best achieved using an interdisciplinary approach. Utilizing specialty services optimizes the patient’s chances of recovery from a medical, physical, cognitive, and mood perspective. The advanced practice clinician is often the primary provider for a stroke patient and should know when and how to utilize specialty services. In this chapter, we will review how interdisciplinary care benefits the patient.
