摘要

Inherited and acquired thrombophilias may increase the risk of thrombosis and should be considered in the workup for a patient with cryptogenic stroke. Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), while relatively rare compared to ischemic stroke, is a major cause of stroke in younger populations. CVT has low mortality when identified and treated appropriately; however, given its wide range of presentations, it can be easily missed. This chapter will also cover notable thrombophilias and other hypercoagulable states, including malignancy and pregnancy.
