Stroke Centers and Certification

Certification of stroke centers helps identify the abilities and services of certified hospitals and standardizes metrics and target measures for optimal care. While not mandated, many hospitals participate in certification to ensure they comply with national standards and provide state-of-the-art care to their patients. This chapter reviews the process and terminology for stroke center certifications.
