Graphene-Based Photocatalysts for Solar Desalination

摘要

Graphene is a promising material for several applications. Graphene-based materials have been utilized in a multitude of applications spanning many disciplines, including energy, environmental, and medicinal. They are also applied for solar desalination offering high performance in terms of efficiency, and low cost. Graphene-based materials were applied for the significant improvements of solar desalination for high-energy transfer efficiency, albeit only within a constrained volume of solution. Solar desalination exhibits challenges such as high cost, low efficiency, and requiring a large land for construction. Notwithstanding these obstacles, solar desalination exhibits considerable potential as a technique for sustainably supplying potable water in the forthcoming years. Applications of graphene in solar desalination are still in its infancy, but its prospects for the future are highly encouraging. This book chapter discusses the application of graphene-based photocatalysts for solar desalination. It shows the advantages and disadvantages of graphene materials.
