摘要

Sulfur has the advantages of high energy density, abundant natural sources, low pollution and low cost, making it an excellent cathode material for the next generation of energy storage batteries. As a result, lithium-sulfur batteries using sulfur as the cathode material also have a high theoretical energy density of 2567 Wh kg−1, much higher than the energy density of current commercial lithium-ion batteries, and are recognised as one of the excellent candidates for the next generation of energy storage batteries. However, lithium-sulfur batteries suffer from challenges such as low conductivity, low sulfur utilisation, poor cycle life and the shuttle effect of polysulphides. In recent years, researchers have worked to solve these problems by changing cathode materials, adhesives, electrolytes and battery structures. Carbon materials have received a great deal of research as effective cathode materials. This chapter focuses on the application of typical carbon materials in lithium-sulfur batteries.
