Sports Medicine of the Hip and Knee
摘要
Sports medicine encompasses a wide range of pathology within the field of orthopedics, primarily involving soft tissue injuries of the musculoskeletal system (e.g., tendons, ligaments, fibrocartilaginous structures, and articular cartilage). Sports medicine is a multidisciplinary field that emphasizes both the surgical and medical management of athletes. The focus of this chapter is to describe the anatomy and pathophysiology of injury and healing of these soft tissue injuries from both a surgical and nonsurgical perspective. Common sports medicine pathologies in different body regions such as femoroacetabular impingement in the hip and anterior cruciate ligament injuries in the knee are discussed in more detail.
