Skeletal Trauma

This chapter focuses on the basics of fracture care. This includes an overview of the diagnosis, treatment, evaluation, and treatment of skeletal trauma. First, this chapter will cover initial evaluation, workup, and diagnosis of osseous, and associated soft tissue injuries. Next, this chapter will focus on the application of basic biomechanical principles for the surgical treatment of fractures. By the end of this chapter, the reader should have a basic understanding of fracture care from initial evaluation to operative treatment. Though the focus will be mostly on adult, and non-spine skeletal trauma, the principles can be applied to all types of fracture care.
