This chapter provides a synthetic overview of the overarching conclusions that can be drawn about the relationship between man and the natural environment by analysing the Late Byzantine epistolography. It investigates the methods and structures employed in epistolary texts to convey information. It illustrates social themes, such as the different degree of familiarity with nature among scholars and the population and the extent to which this knowledge influenced the shaping of society in times of peace and in times of crisis. Additionally, the texts highlight the evolution of relationships and perceptions regarding animals. It succinctly addresses several other aspects that pervaded this book in pursuit of an answer that is undeniably timeless.
