The Future of the Humanities and Scholarly Publishing in the Humanities
摘要
For thousands of years, the humanities were at the center of higher education. Unfortunately, in the twentieth century, and extending into the twenty-first-century, the humanities confronted a series of major crises that undermined the preeminence of the humanities in higher education. This chapter presents a series of suggestions and strategies, some employing the theories of Ted Levitt’s “Marketing Myopia” article, which could assist the humanities in addressing some of the debilitating crises, including working with universities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
