Medical Conditions Associated with Skin Diseases

摘要

Numerous systemic diseases such as autoimmune, endocrine, and metabolic diseases, hematological, cardiovascular, rheumatic, as well as internal malignant diseases, can reflect their symptoms on the skin. Skin manifestations and symptoms are often the first or even the only sign of an internal disease. Phakomatoses or neurocutaneous syndromes are a heterogeneous group of congenital disorders that affect the central nervous system, eyes, and skin. This chapter also describes the most important psychodermatoses encompassing skin conditions associated with an underlying psychiatric component. Knowledge and recognition of the clinical features of skin lesions as indicators of associated diseases and psychiatric disorders is useful for dermatologists, but also for internists and psychiatrists.
