In this final chapter, we focus specifically on the type of support and practical changes that the performers we studied identified as necessary not only to maintaining a sustainable recovery from the ongoing effects of the pandemic, as well as Brexit and the recent cost of living crisis, but also to securing a more fair, equitable, and accessible future. The chapter draws on established research and secondary data, as well as the analysis of the research findings from our own study presented in earlier chapters throughout the book, to speak directly to funding and legislative bodies, professional and membership organisations, policymakers, employers, activists, trade unions, practitioners, and creative workers about how the UK’s live entertainment industries might move ‘beyond precarity’ and to examine what conditions might be necessary to enable this to happen.
