Lignin

“Lignin” comes from the Latin word “lignum”, meaning “wood” (Chakar and Ragauskas in Ind Crops Prod 20:131–141, 2004). Lignin is a natural aromatic (phenolic) biomacromolecule found in the cell walls of lignocellulosic biomass, such as wood and annual plants.
