Generally, by adsorption of various gur gums on the mineral surfaces, their surfaces’ electrical charges decrease, and their isoelectric point (IEP) shift to the lower pHs (Table 6.1). The only reported exception is sesbania gum (SG), which slightly increased the IEP (Zhao et al. in J Mater Res Technol 8:14–21, 2019). For example, adding 100 mg/l Gum Arabic (GA), there were no major alterations in the IEP for talc and chalcopyrite, but there was a decrease in the magnitude of their potential. It was indicated that the GA adsorption shifted the slip surface of the electric double layer toward the outside (farther away from the surface).
