Your First Year(s) in Academic Medicine—Or in a New Role in Academic Medicine
摘要
In Chap. 5 , we describe what to expect in your early academic medicine career years. We start by helping you develop your ‘academic leadership presence’ to assure your success. Learning who you are includes learning about others and hence we discuss the importance of networking. We talk about understanding your new environment’s organizational hierarchy and creating your own onboarding plan. This chapter also describes how to find and establish productive mentoring relationships. We discuss politics, authority, positioning your agenda (i.e., how to get what you need), and developing your niche.
