Time Series and Data Assimilation

Time series modelling can be defined as modelling the progression over time of the state of a dynamical system. We focus here on simple statistical models rather than complex process-based models (PBMs) but will come back to those at the end of this chapter (and for more about PBMs see e.g. Chaps. 8 , 11 and 12 ).
