Almost from the very beginning of the European Movement’s activities, the most active groups of pro-European exiles from the Soviet satellite countries took part in the organization’s activities with their own autonomy and with the primary aim of publicizing the situation of oppression and lack of freedom in their respective countries. With the support of their Western backers, they established their own forum for condemnation, but also for reflection and proposals, so that no conscious European would be fooled by the siren songs of the “proletarian homelands” and would know, at least in part, the reality of the countries under Soviet control. In the end, the efforts and sacrifices of the exiles from the East were rewarded with the fall of the Soviet system with the liberation revolutions of 1989–1991.

摘要
