Dispersion Relations and Propagation Parameters of Polaritons
摘要
We derive and analyze in detail the dispersion relations driving the propagation of surface polaritons in planar and cylindrical nonmagnetic ( \(\mu =\mu _0\) ) structures. Based on the solution of Maxwell’s equations for the field components, this derivation is done for both the TM and TE waves. Analytical expressions for the real and imaginary parts of the in-plane and cross-plane wave vectors of polaritons propagating along a single interface, two interfaces (a nanofilm), and a circular nanowire are obtained. We also obtain explicit expressions for the heat source and Poynting vector of polaritons propagating along these three structures. Furthermore, we analyze the frequency spectrum of these propagation and energy parameters for polaritons propagating along the surface of SiC.
