Maximizing the Clinical Years in Medical School: A Fourth Year Student’s Perspective Preparing for Surgical Training

The clinical years of medical school lay the foundation for the remainder of one’s career in surgery. Maximizing this time provides an advantage when entering residency. Establishing systems and routines during these years for highly effective growth and learning will pay dividends during rotations and beyond as students move forward in their training. This chapter outlines several strategies for success both inside and outside of the hospital during clinical rotations and sub-internships.
