摘要
Surgical training is a complex experience for any trainee. For those from underrepresented backgrounds this experience becomes even more difficult as we navigate spaces structured for our exclusion. There is a significant emotional tax on trainees when tasked to carry the burden of being at the center of DEI efforts for their program or institution. Being cognizant of the sociopolitical turmoil of our current day and the efforts to defund DEI require us to be more forthright in our efforts to bolster and protect DEI principles within our institution and society.
