Historical Discography Management Platform and Crowdsourcing Practices in Music Archiving
摘要
This article explores the ongoing research project, “M.EL.O.S.”, and the development of a music management platform tailored to the project’s objectives. Specifically, the text delves into one of the three collections involved, focusing on Vassilis Tsitsanis’s discography, which is housed at the Music Documentation Laboratory within the Department of Music Studies at the University of Ioannina in Greece. Furthermore, this article highlights a pivotal aspect of the project, exemplifying its open nature: crowdsourcing and the associated methodologies. After presenting the collection’s holdings and connected metadata pertaining to historical discography, the article analyzes the potential categories of contributors from the community that will be engaged in crowdsourcing activities following the platform’s anticipated launch in late 2024.
