Energy Efficiency—European Investments Policies for Climate Protection

The climate protection is a complex process that comes with numerous challenges of financial, social and technical nature, the reason why the adjustment of this process is done on the fly, since the public authorities face difficulties generated by the geopolitical context or the social pressures that the energy transition entails. Energy efficiency directly supported the climate risk management in the 2014–2021/2023 programming period and it remains a theme of the Cohesion Policy that sustained financial allocations in energy transition and resilience as well, taking in account the challenges imposed by social, economic, geo-political and technical issues. This research proposes a comparative study on the governmental policies of planning and spending the amounts for energy efficiency in the EU member states, with an emphasis on the situation in Romania. The results of the research show that each country has financed thematic details in a different way within its sustainable investment strategies.
