The Environmental Conundrum: Exploring Cognitive Biases and Psychological Barriers in Pro-environmental Choices
摘要
The failure of human–environment behavior is the root cause of environmental issues. While significant efforts have been made to shift behavior toward sustainability, there remains a pressing need to further emphasize the human–nature relationship in fostering pro-environmental behavior. This study reviews the importance of cognitive biases as well as psychological barriers while working toward pro-environmental behavior. It emphasizes that there is an impact of these factors while taking the environment into consideration. It recommends that bias and barriers play an important role and should be considered while developing policies for the environment. This comprehensive examination highlights the necessity of addressing cognitive biases and psychological barriers to effectively promote sustainable and mutually beneficial interactions between humanity and the natural world.
