Work-Integrated Learning in a Value-Based Course
摘要
The world today is in dire need of human values education. People, therefore, need to get back to basics, to realize the dream of a world in which the human values of truth, love, peace, right conduct, and non-violence thrive and prevail. Sri Sathya Sai value-based education is designed to emphasize the practice of the 5 core human values of truth, right conduct, peace, love, and non-violence, and their sub-values in daily life. This is enhanced by the application of the 5 transformation or teaching techniques of silent sitting and meditation, prayer and quotations, storytelling, song and music, and group activities, which assist in the holistic development of the individual. This study focuses on the use of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) to unfold human values in the students. The author discusses her experiences as a course coordinator and facilitator/trainer of the Sri Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSSEHV) Introductory Course over the last 5 years. The impact of the WIL components on the students and the community members demonstrated its transformative power to spread positivity and the five core human values to the people they interacted with. This is the principle of resonance, which is emphasised in the course.
