Combined Cataract and Implantation of EX-PRESS Glaucoma Filtration Device
摘要
Trabeculectomy has been combined with cataract surgery to obtain consistently low postoperative intraocular pressure. Evidence indicates that implantation of the EX-PRESS Glaucoma Filtration Device is as effective as trabeculectomy in achieving low intraocular pressure after surgery. Advantages of the EX-PRESS Glaucoma Filtration device compared with trabeculectomy include greater predictability after surgery, more rapid visual recovery, and a lower incidence of postoperative complications. Implantation of the EX-PRESS Glaucoma Filtration Device under a partial-thickness scleral flap can be safely and effectively combined with phacoemulsification and can be considered as primary treatment for patients undergoing a combined procedure.
