摘要

The term pseudophakic glaucoma is often used to refer to any secondary glaucoma following cataract extraction. However, elevation of intraocular pressure and glaucoma after cataract surgery may occur by a wide variety of mechanisms, each with a different natural history and time course. Therefore, in describing this complex condition, it has been suggested that the general term of glaucoma in pseudophakia be adopted to replace pseudophakic glaucoma, which implies a single entity and mechanism (Tomey, Traverso, Surv Ophthalmol 36:79–112, 1991; Traverso et al., Curr Opin Ophthalmol 7:65–71, 1996).
