A Dual-Beam All-Optical Thomson/Compton Scattering (EPATCS) Experiment Platform with Versatile Parameter Tuning

We have developed a dual-beam platform for conducting all-optical Thomson/ Compton scattering experiments. This platform, which is highly precise and adjustable, can be used for investigating strong-field quantum electrodynamics effects and for creating all-optical inverse Compton scattering sources. Our experiments have been conducted using a terawatt-class laser system, resulting in adjustable x/gamma-ray energy and tunable polarization X-ray source. The platform is proposed for use in generating x/gamma radiation with orbital angular momentum, demonstrating nuclear isomer excitation, and verifying the theory of strong-field quantum electrodynamics effects at multi-petawatt laser facilities.
