Carbon Nanotubes as an Effective Electrocatalytic Material

摘要

In recent years, numerous materials have been reported as electrocatalysts. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as electrocatalysts exhibit excellent catalytic activity for their unique properties, including high mechanical strength, large surface area and aspect ratio, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and excellent optical properties. These properties make them a suitable candidate to be utilized in electrochemical processes and thus suitable for electrocatalyst applications such as in-situ CO2 conversion, organic synthesis, hydrogen production, sensors, batteries, and fuel cells. This chapter focuses on the importance of CNTs and their properties for various electrocatalytic applications. The chapter also discusses the most recent developments in the use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and CNT-based composite materials for electrocatalytic processes. At the end of the chapter, a special emphasis was placed on the challenges and future perspectives of CNTs as electrocatalytic materials. While compiling this chapter, updated information was collected from different sources, such as research articles, review papers, books, book chapters, Google sites, and case studies.
