Pediatric Oncology for Surgeons: Principles of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy

In the twenty-first century, surgeons need not only to know the principles of chemo- and radiotherapy but also to participate in the increased knowledge of tumor biology and new therapies incorporated in the treatment of children with cancer. All of this needs an efficient and professional multidisciplinary collaboration that facilitates the decision-making process. With the increased number of cancer survivors, multimodal treatment focuses on avoiding acute and long-term toxicities and improving the quality of life of this particularly vulnerable population.
