Thyroid Tumors in Children
摘要
This chapter provides a concise synthesis of pivotal insights into pediatric thyroid tumors within the framework of surgical oncology. Despite their relative rarity, pediatric thyroid neoplasms present distinct challenges necessitating specialized consideration. We address the importance of individualized care. Various types of tumors, both benign and malignant, are explored, with a focus on accurate preoperative diagnosis through imaging studies and fine-needle aspiration biopsy. Surgical considerations are explained in the chapter, emphasizing the need for nerve monitorization and detailing surgical technique, the significance of total thyroidectomy, and selective neck dissection for malignancies. Postoperative care, including regular surveillance and the management of complications, is discussed to ensure optimal outcomes.
