Collaborative Problem-Solving on Learning Performance in Simulation-Based Learning: A Quasi-Experimental Study

Simulation-based learning utilizes information technology to replicate real-world environments, aiding in the comprehension of complex phenomena. However, optimizing learners’ efforts remains a challenge. Collaborative problem-solving integrates collaboration and problem-solving, enhancing learning performance, and is commonly employed in technology-enhanced classrooms. This study investigates the integration of collaborative problem-solving in simulation-based learning to enhance learner performance. A quasi-experimental design compared a control class to an experimental class where collaborative problem-solving was integrated. The results confirm that collaborative problem-solving in simulation-based learning had significantly higher learning performance compared to the learner in the traditional instructions. These findings suggest that collaborative problem-solving enhances learner understanding and practical skills, offering pedagogical insights for effective simulation-based learning.
