摘要

The origin of raw materials has been a recurring theme in the industry, considering global warming and actions toward sustainable development. The process of (re)utilizing natural residues has been an area of increasing visibility. On the other hand, associations linked to animal rights have been pressing to inhibit the use of animal skin. The primary objective of this work is to develop sustainable coated textiles with pine wood waste for the creation of coated fabrics, employing biomimetic principles to attempt a material that holds the potential to serve as a viable alternative to traditional leather. The goal is to establish a value chain for wood waste, thus contributing to the circular economy paradigm. These new fabrics were submitted to different characterisation tests to evaluate their durability. An artefact that demonstrates the potential of the new material and mimics pinecones was designed and manufactured to demonstrate the viability of the new textiles.
