摘要

The body of a passenger transport (specifically buses) is the main element of its passive safety system. The level of passive safety inserted in the design and manufacture can be assessed by the impact of strength properties of its body. According to the UNECE Regulations No. 66 the roll-over conditions in the design of bus bodies of M2 and M3 categories are determined by the total resistance to fractures of its separate sections, which are: front, rear and middle sections. According to the requirements of the UNECE Regulation No. 66 in the case of bus roll-over the impact energy at symmetrical destruction is absorbed by the transverse force sections of the body due to their deformability. The author's team determined the structure of the passenger vehicles of M2 and M3 categories in distribution step-by-step by general indicators and years of operation in the Russian Federation. Supported by specific deliverables, the indicators of accidents on passenger transport with the assessment of its danger degree by severity of consequences and transportation risk are determined. The author’s team analyzed and proposed an automatic protection device to increase the strength of the passenger vehicle structure in case of lateral roll-over, a detailed design of the device is to be presented.
