Investigation of Performance Parameters During Test Control of Fuel Pumps of Modern Automotive Equipment

Timely diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electric fuel pumps allow for an increased service life and resource. The fuel system accounts for over 30% of failures in internal combustion engines. This article presents the results of an energy balance study when the technical condition of agricultural machinery fuel pumps is altered. Calculating the energy balance is a prerequisite for developing a new or upgrading an existing method for diagnosing fuel pumps. The importance of using current strength as a diagnostic parameter is emphasized (when determining the technical condition) of the pump in the mode of creating maximum fuel system pressure. According to the research results, the rate of current rise in pump feed can serve as an additional diagnostic parameter. Current is a sensitive parameter that increases or decreases depending on the level of hydraulic resistance growth or leaks in the fuel system. The pump power expended on hydraulic losses did not change significantly due to the constant operating voltage. The average power value, with a 90% increase in hydraulic resistance in the fuel system, was 55 W. When hydraulic resistance in the fuel delivery system decreased by less than 10%, the power was 48 W.
