Internet and Wireshark Project
摘要
In this chapter, a series of procedures are introduced, which describes how to check a computer’s Internet connection configurations, conduct Internet ping and trace route measurements. In addition, a WiresharkWireshark Internet analysis project is presented to show how to check Internet Protocol (i.e., IPv4 and IPv6) packets that were transmitted and received by a computer. This chapter explains the procedures of how one can check an IP packet’s source and destination IP address as well as the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) three-way handshake connection setup parameters, TCP window size, and transport security protocols that are being used. The chapter also describes how to generate file transfer Input and Output (I/O) graphs, analyze the data rate of the network, and conduct IP address based physical location (e.g., mailing address) identification experiments. Using the information of this chapter, the reader will be able to clearly understand the details of Chap. 3 (titled “Internet Access for my Personal Computer (PC) & Smartphone”) and Chap. 4 (titled “TCP/IP Protocols & IP Routing”).
