Community and Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Disaster Management and Preparedness

Several decades ago, the earth has experienced severe natural disaster that led to increased loss of lives and property such as Tokyo-Yokohama Earthquake, Yangtze River Flood, Typhoon Nina–Banqiao Dam Failure, Haitian Earthquake, Kashmir Earthquake, Great Galveston Storm, among others. This study largely explores the integration of local community engagement and artificial intelligence (AI) to transform disaster monitoring and preparedness. It emphasizes the need for AI sophisticated techniques and community engagement using current AI capabilities. Communities play a crucial role in fostering strength and preparation through local participation and community-driven activities. The study further investigates how AI enhances early warning systems, optimizes resource allocation, and improves decision-making processes in disaster management. The strategic integration of AI with community participation, addressing challenges and exploring opportunities for a cohesive cooperation in disaster management are examined. Real-world instances demonstrating the effectiveness of combining AI with community participation in disaster response through informative case studies, offering specific evidence and practical advice are demonstrated. Several challenges and limitations, including ethical, social, and technical aspects, contributing to a detailed comprehension of the complexities involved in adopting this comprehensive approach are scrutinized. The final section presents significant findings, draws important lessons from the collaborative version, and predicts implications for future research and practical applications, emphasizing a significant move towards a holistic and innovative framework for disaster management and preparedness.
