MaaloulaMaaloula is a Christian town in SyriaSyria with an extraordinary location and architecture. People use the Aramaic language daily. Therefore, the town attracted linguists worldwide. Maaloula was affected by neglect and the Syrian conflict. This chapter aims to define the identityIdentity concept of any unique town as an essential issue in conserving its character. Additionally, the work presents the Syrian legislation and the Maaloula restoration approach, showing strengths, weaknesses, and effects on the town’s identityIdentity and displays that over time. The case study shows the experience and the steps to finding a conservationConservation guide. It offers suggestions for managing and conserving cultural relevance (cultural heritageHeritage places). Additionally, it is based on the knowledge and expertise of ICOMOS members in Australia, where managing culturally significant sites includes conservationConservation as a constant duty.
